5x5 Latin square with inequalities
5×5 Latin square with inequality clues between cells
Goal
Fill the grid 1–N with no repeats in any row or column, while every greater-than and less-than sign stays true.
Rules
- Each row and column contains 1–N exactly once.
- Every “>” and “<” sign between adjacent cells must hold.
- Some cells may be given to start.
- The chain of inequalities limits how high or low neighbours can be.
How to play
- Look for cells forced to an extreme — a cell smaller than two others cannot be the largest values.
- Follow inequality chains to bound each cell’s range.
- Combine the signs with ordinary row and column uniqueness.
Tip
The ends of a long “<” chain are nearly forced — start your solve there.
